Military 18-24 years old will be able to receive higher education while serving: Ministry of Defense
Ukrainian servicemen between the ages of 18 and 24 who are serving under a contract or under the draft have been given the opportunity to obtain higher education without leaving the service. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry of Education and Culture has prepared amendments to the Regulations on the completion of military service, which grant the right to military personnel of this age category to study at institutions of higher education during their service.
“For this, it is necessary to obtain permission from the commander of the unit or the higher command. The decision is formalized by an order of the military unit.” – says the message.
This initiative is of particular importance for the participants of the “Contrakt 18-24” project, because it allows them to combine military service with studies at higher education institutions, improve their professional skills and prepare for their future careers.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, young people have come to the defense of the state without having time to enter higher education institutions, or were forced to interrupt their studies. This innovation will allow them to get an education in various fields, master a profession and better adapt to civilian life after leaving military service.” – noted Director of the Department of Military Education and Science of the Ministry of Defense Volodymyr Mirnenko.
Previously, only enlisted, non-commissioned and non-commissioned officers who signed a new contract, as well as officers who studied under the state order and served a period corresponding to the duration of their training, had the opportunity to obtain higher education during their service.
