Minus 177,000: there are fewer and fewer pensioners, a third receives 3,340 hryvnias per month

According to the official information Pension Fund, there are 10,331,375 pensioners in Ukraine. Compared to last year, their number decreased by almost 177,000 people. Despite indexation, more than 3 million people – every third pensioner – live on 3,340 hryvnias per month. At the same time, the average amount of the pension after the last indexation is 6,341 hryvnias, which is about 10% more than in April 2024.

However, the growth rate of pensions does not cover the level of inflation, which was 14.6% for the year. This means that Ukrainians receive less in real terms. At the same time, the number of those who receive less than 3,000 hryvnias has decreased — they are currently less than 4% (398,000 people).

Almost 29% of pensioners (about 3 million) receive from 5 to 10 thousand hryvnias every month. Almost 15% (1.5 million) have pensions of more than 10,000 hryvnias, with an average level of payments of 15,640 hryvnias.

The highest pensions were recorded in Kyiv — an average of 8,708 hryvnias. In Donetsk and Luhansk regions — 7,814 and 7,314 hryvnias, respectively. The lowest are in Ternopil Oblast (4,931 UAH) and Bukovina (5,100 UAH).

The largest number of pensioners live in Dnipropetrovsk region (873 thousand), Kyiv (748 thousand) and Kharkiv region (707 thousand). The smallest number is in the Chernivtsi region (206,000).

About 28% of pensioners are working citizens. On average, they receive a little more — 6,863 hryvnias per month.
