More than 36,000 people, including children, were evacuated from Sumy region: OVA

As of October 13, 36,804 residents, including 6,469 children, were evacuated from the Sumy region. Evacuation measures continue, in particular, mandatory forced evacuation of minors continues. About this informs Sumy Regional Military Administration (OVA).

According to the administration, during the last week, another 535 people, including 143 children, were deported from the border communities of the region. Evacuation is carried out from territories under threat due to proximity to the contact line and constant shelling.

“According to the Department of Civil Protection, 36,804 people, including 6,469 children, have been evacuated at the moment,” OVA said in a statement.

Special attention was paid to the evacuation of 34 settlements located in the 5-kilometer border zone. All residents of these areas were evacuated to safer areas.

Currently, evacuation is ongoing from 189 settlements in 17 territorial communities of Sumy Oblast. Forced evacuation of children from 28 settlements of the Seredyna-Buda community of the Shostky district (with the exception of the city of Seredyna-Buda itself) and from 24 settlements of the Velikopysariv settlement community is also being carried out.
