More than 60 anti-drone protection facilities were built at Ukrenergo substations

NEC “Ukrenergo” together with the Rehabilitation Agency built more than 60 engineering anti-drone protection facilities at most of its substations. This is stated in reports former head of the company Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.

The document states that for those objects where the customer for the construction of anti-drone protection was the NEC “Ukrenergo”, the company independently found financing from international partners, without using state budget funds. The built facilities correspond to the 2nd level of protection according to the classification of the General Staff, and currently such storage facilities are only available at Ukrenergo facilities.

In addition, Kudrytskyi emphasized that the company ensured the stability of the functioning of the Ukrainian energy system within the framework of the European continental network, which became an important achievement in recent years. The created opportunities for electricity import from Europe are equivalent to two NPP units, and “Ukrenergo” has become the fourth largest operator in Europe, which contributes to the further integration of Ukraine into the European energy market.

Over the past year, the company has restored transformers, the power of which is comparable to the total consumption of the entire country, and the same amount of equipment has already been contracted and partially delivered.

During the full-scale invasion, Ukrenergo attracted support from Western partners in the amount of 1.5 billion euros, which became the largest financial assistance in the corporate sector. In addition, in 2021, the company conducted the largest corporate bond issue in the history of Ukraine for $825 million, placed on the London Stock Exchange.

Kudrytskyi also emphasized that “Ukrenergo” is the only company in Europe capable of working on overhead lines with a voltage of 750,000 volts without disconnecting them. He added that thanks to new incentives in the electricity market, it will be possible to build at least 600 MW of new modern power plants located throughout the country in a year, which will fundamentally change the architecture of Ukraine’s energy system.
