Musk announces resignation from Trump administration

Elon Musk stated about his resignation from the position of Special Civil Servant of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the administration of Donald Trump. His reformation initiatives ended in a series of scandals, a wave of criticism and a significant drop in trust.
The resignation came a day after Musk criticized the administration’s House-backed spending cut bill in an interview with CBS.
“As my planned term as a special government official draws to a close, I would like to thank President Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. DOGE’s mission will only grow stronger over time as it becomes a way of life for the entire government.”, – emphasized Musk.
The decision to resign was made against the background of increasing political pressure and public discontent. Mask’s program provided for a large-scale reduction of the state apparatus — tens of thousands of employees lost their jobs, some departments were liquidated. However, the promised financial result could not be achieved.
Initially, Musk planned to reduce government spending by 2 trillion dollars, later the goal was lowered to 1 trillion, and later to 150 billion. Over time, he increasingly expressed dissatisfaction with the resistance his reforms faced.
It will be recalled that Musk repeatedly clashed with representatives of the administration, who opposed his attempts to change the structure of government institutions. His involvement with Trump’s team was temporary from the start. Musk recently announced that he intends to focus on the development of his own companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
