Musk is looking for people who are willing to work more than 80 hours a week

American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced on the opening of recruitment to the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, aimed at reducing government costs and optimizing the work of government structures.

On his pages in social networks, Musk invited gifted professionals with a high IQ, ready to work more than 80 hours a week. He joined the leadership of the department together with the well-known businessman and Trumpist Vivek Ramaswamy, who previously participated in the primaries of the Republican Party.

According to President Donald Trump, the creation of this office is part of a broader initiative to reform the government’s structure, which involves the provision of external advice to reduce costs and eliminate unnecessary red tape. The Department of Efficiency, Trump said during the announcement, will work with the White House and the Office of the Budget to implement those tasks. “Together, these two great Americans will pave the way for my administration to clean up the government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation, reduce excess spending and restructure federal agencies,” the president said.

The department’s work is expected to be completed by July 4, 2026, the symbolic date when the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of independence. The appointment of two executives at once, Musk and Ramaswamy, attracted the attention of social networks, causing lively discussions and numerous jokes about the “dual” management of government efficiency.

Department already published first official announcement on the X platform (formerly Twitter), calling for “high-IQ revolutionaries” to apply. According to the report, Musk and Ramaswamy plan to consider only the top 1% of resumes that come in through direct messages on the X platform.
