Musk’s chatbot Grok can “watch” through the smartphone camera

xAI, a startup founded by Elon Musk, has announced new features for its Grok chatbot. One of the key innovations was Grok Vision — an option that allows the bot to “see” objects that the user shows through the smartphone camera. About this informs TechCrunch.

Thanks to this feature, Grok will be able to answer questions about various objects in real time – for example, products, road signs or advertising posters. Similar capabilities are already available in Gemini chatbots from Google and ChatGPT from OpenAI. Grok Vision is currently available in an iOS version of the app, but the option is not yet available for Android.

Real-time multilingual voice search was also introduced. This feature is currently available for Android users, but only for subscribers to the $30/month SuperGrok plan.

Previously, Grok also received a “memory” function and a separate interface for working with texts, documents and code. These updates bring the capabilities of xAI closer to the level of its main competitors, OpenAI and Google. In particular, ChatGPT has long used a memory function, which has recently been improved and allows access to the user’s complete communication history.
