NATO Secretary General opposes public discussion of peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that publicly discussing the details of a potential peace deal between Ukraine and Russia could harm the process because it would give Vladimir Putin an opportunity to get important information early. About this informs “Voice of America”.

According to Rutte, disclosing the details of a possible “strong deal” for Ukraine during open discussions only increases Putin’s awareness, which should be avoided.

“Why are these conversations on television now? Let’s do it a little behind closed doors, because otherwise, when he [Putin] sits down at the negotiating table, he will already know what we are going to do.” – stressed the NATO Secretary General.

He also emphasized that the support of Ukraine from the European countries remains “unbreakable”, even in spite of fears about a possible reduction in arms supplies from the US. Rutte assured that work with the future administration of the United States continues and is aimed at further strengthening support for Ukraine.
