New Prime Minister sworn in in Canada

The new leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Mark Carney, was sworn in and officially assumed the post of Prime Minister after the resignation of Justin Trudeau. About this informs CBC.
The ceremony took place in Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General, who represents the British monarch in Canada. Carney, 59, became Canada’s first-ever prime minister with no prior political or government experience. Previously, he worked at the central banks of Canada and Great Britain, and was also a freelance adviser to Trudeau.
Together with Carney, the new government was sworn in, most of whose members retained their positions. Among them are Defense Minister Bill Blair and Foreign Minister Melanie Joly. Khrystia Freeland, who previously resigned in protest against Trudeau’s economic policies, also returned to the government. She headed the Ministry of Transport and Internal Trade.
Mark Carney takes office as Prime Minister of Canada amid a trade war with the United States. He has previously stressed that Canada will never join the United States and has vowed to maintain tariffs on American goods until the US shows “respect.”
