NMT-2025: registration, dates and key changes

The academic year has reached the middle, and for future graduates this means the approach of an important stage — preparation for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT).
Let us remind you that the NMT is a mandatory element for admission to higher education institutions in Ukraine, and the result of this exam largely determines the further educational trajectory of each applicant. Therefore, it is important not only to start preparing in advance, but also to realize the importance of quality study of all subjects included in the test.
In 2025, each NMT participant must pass all four chosen subjects at least to the threshold level. If the applicant does not overcome the threshold score in at least one subject, he will lose the right to participate in the competitive selection to higher educational institutions. This rule is strict and applies even to cases where the result is high in other subjects. Therefore, in order to have a chance to enter the university of your dreams, you need to make an effort to achieve the minimum required score in each subject. In 2025, as in 2024, to overcome the threshold values and participate in the competitive selection, it will be enough for NMT participants to get 15% of the correct answers in each subject.
We remind you that the threshold points for the current year are determined as indicated in the infographic.

When and how do we register for NMT?
There are already dates for registration for participation in the multitest. It will take place in two stages: main and additional. The main stage of registration for participation in the main sessions of the NMT will last from March 6 to April 3 inclusive.
After that, until April 8, registered participants will have the opportunity to make changes to their personal data, in particular, choose another subject of the additional block or change the city for testing, both in Ukraine and abroad. The additional registration period will last from May 9 to 14. This period will be available to entrants who were unable to register during the main phase for valid reasons, as well as to those who were denied registration.
These participants will be able to make changes to their registration data until May 19. Participants will be able to download the invitation for the main session, which will contain information about the date, time and place of the test, from May 4. For participants of the additional session, the invitation will be available from July 11.
For security reasons, information about the place of testing in Ukraine will not be published for public access.
In total, the NMT will take place from May to July: the main session – from May 14 to June 25, the additional session – from July 14 to 25.
NMT results can be canceled in case of violation of rules during testing. For example, if the participant finds a mobile phone, headphones, cheat sheets or consults with other people during the test. Such violations are recorded in the protocols, and as a result, the participant loses the right to take the test in the current year.

What opportunities do beneficiaries have?
In Ukraine, there are special conditions for admission to higher education institutions for certain categories of applicants who are entitled to benefits. This is an important support for those who find themselves in difficult life circumstances, and it makes it possible to get an education under easier conditions.
What exactly do these benefits provide? For example, some categories of applicants can enter without taking the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT), only based on the results of an interview or creative competition. Others have the opportunity to use quotas for budget seats or apply for vacant budget seats. Situations of expulsion of students from budget places due to academic debt or of their own volition also occur in universities. And this makes it possible to transfer to the budget students who are entitled to a benefit.
Who belongs to the main categories of preferential entrants?
- Persons with disabilities as a result of the war can enter based on the results of an interview or a creative competition, depending on the chosen specialty.
- Injured participants of the Revolution of Dignity and participants in hostilities have the right to join based on the results of the interview, without NMT.
- Persons with disabilities who cannot attend an educational institution also undergo an interview instead of a standard entrance exam.
- Orphans and children deprived of parental care can use quota-1, which gives them access to specially allocated budget places.
- People affected by the Chernobyl disaster have a preferential entry, which depends on their category.
- Persons who were deprived of their freedom due to armed aggression against Ukraine have the right to special terms of admission.
- Children of deceased (deceased) persons defined by the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans” also have benefits during admission.
In order to prove the right to benefits, it is necessary to provide relevant documents. For example, war-disabled persons will need a war-disabled certificate, and orphans will need a birth certificate and guardianship decision.
Importantly! Admission conditions may change, so we advise you to regularly check the current information on the official resources of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. This will help you to prepare all the necessary documents on time and exercise your right to education.
What are applicants most often asked about?
One of the most frequent questions that worries applicants: “What is a competitive offer and how does the contractual form of education work?”
A competitive offer is a kind of “vacancy” from a higher education institution, which shows how many places are available for entrants to a certain specialty. This proposal states:
- form of education (full-time, part-time);
- terms of study;
- a list of competitive subjects that must be completed for admission;
- number of seats per budget and contract.
Thus, a competitive offer is your choice of where and how to study, and universities offer conditions that will help you achieve your goal.
Competitive offers are different…
What is an open tender offer?
An open competitive offer is a chance to get a budget study place if you have a high competitive score. The main feature of this approach is that the competition takes place immediately between all applicants who enter the same specialty, regardless of the university they have chosen.
If several educational programs are combined into one competitive offer, the Admission Rules of the educational institution describe exactly how students will be distributed among these programs. Program selection usually takes place no earlier than the end of the first year of study (for those enrolled on the basis of full general secondary education), or five months after the start of studies in other cases.
What is the address placement of a government order?
This is the way in which budget places are allocated between universities. That is, applicants with the best scores receive a recommendation for admission to the educational institutions that they indicated with the highest priority in their applications.
This mechanism allows the strongest applicants to choose educational institutions, and universities to attract the best students. It’s beneficial for everyone: you get a place in your dream university, and the university gets motivated and strong students.
This is a modern and transparent approach to admission, which gives equal opportunities to everyone who is ready to compete for a budget place with their knowledge.
What is a non-budget competitive proposal?
A non-budget competitive offer is an opportunity to study at a higher education institution on a paid basis, as such places are not funded by the state or local authorities.
The contract form of education allows anyone who is ready to invest in their education to acquire the desired profession. The number of such places is determined by the university itself, depending on its license, and all details are published on the official website of the institution and prescribed in the Admission Rules.
When applying for a contract, you don’t have to choose priorities – it gives you more freedom to choose. In addition, you can submit up to 15 applications and increase your chances of entering the desired specialty.
A fixed bid is…
This is an opportunity to enter a predetermined number of budget places, which are financed by the state or local authorities.
The peculiarity of such offers is that the number of budget places is already determined in advance, and they go to applicants who have applied for this specialty and have the highest scores.
This specificity distinguishes a fixed offer from an open offer, where the number of budget places is formed depending on how many applicants with the best results chose this or that institution (this is called targeted placement of state orders).
