Norway will help Ukraine overcome gas shortage next heating season

Norway is ready to support Ukraine in overcoming the gas deficit of the next heating season in the amount of 1 billion euros. About this stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during a briefing in Vilnius.

As the head of state noted, he discussed this issue with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Har Stere.

“We discussed issues that are important for Ukraine now. I received a positive signal from him. It is about gas: if we have a deficit in the winter, can we count on the corresponding volume. I received support from Jonas today.” – said Zelenskyi.

The president clarified that it is about a possible supply of gas in the amount of about 1 billion euros, necessary in case it is not possible to fully restore the lost capacities of Ukrainian gas production due to Russian attacks.

“We agreed that we will look for ways to close this deficit, which could be if everything is not restored, if we cannot fully provide gas to our population. And that is why there is an appropriate volume. We found half, and half was missing. Let me say this: by a billion euros.”, he added.

In addition, the parties agreed that Norway will provide additional support for the production of Ukrainian UAVs.

We will remind you that on May 27, Ukraine simplified the rules for transporting gas through the Trans-Balkan route — the relevant decision was made by the NCRECP.
