Norway will train Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Portugal

At the beginning of 2025, Norway will transfer the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters from Denmark to Portugal. About this informs Ministry of Defense of Norway.
“The government has allocated funds to support the training of Ukrainian pilots and ground crew in 2025 as well. At the beginning of the year, F-16 training in Denmark will be stopped. From the new year, the Norwegian Armed Forces will instead provide instructors to train Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Portugal,” – said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram
The message states that this training is Norway’s contribution to the international Air Defense Coalition. It is aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Air Force of Ukraine, in particular through the transfer of fighter jets and personnel training.
We remind you that from the fall of 2023, Norway began to provide aircraft and instructors for the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots, and this work will continue within the framework of new cooperation formats.
“Portugal is now taking over from Denmark, albeit for a shorter period of time, and then it will be up to the Air Defense Coalition to train in the future.”, – emphasized Gram.
