The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the new Procedure for conducting initial joint military training. Resolution No. 1393 acquired effective December 12, 2024.
According to the document, all citizens of Ukraine, regardless of gender, who obtain specialized secondary education in institutions of general secondary, professional, specialized, or vocational higher education, regardless of the form of ownership, will undergo initial military training. Such institutions must be licensed to conduct educational activities of the appropriate level.
Preparation is carried out through the teaching of the subject “Defense of Ukraine” and the organization of events aimed at military-patriotic education. In military and sports lyceums, as well as lyceums with enhanced military physical training, this subject is included in the specialized standards of military education. Education in such institutions is conducted according to programs developed on the basis of the Standard Educational Program approved by the Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Defense, other executive authorities, as well as the regional and Kyiv city state administrations, in particular the military administrations that coordinate the work of educational institutions, are responsible for the organization and support of initial training.
