OpenAI sues Elon Musk over pressure on the company

OpenAI Corporation has filed a lawsuit against billionaire Elon Musk, accusing him of systematic pressure on the company. About this informs Reuters.

OpenAI said in a statement that Musk “tried every tool available” to harm the organization. The company appealed to the court with a request to stop the entrepreneur from “illegal and unjust actions” in the future and to hold him accountable for what he has already committed.

“Musk is acting against OpenAI with malicious campaign attacks broadcast to more than 200 million Musk followers on the social network he controls, trumped-up demands for corporate records, stalking lawsuits and bogus bids for OpenAI assets,” – the company notes.

The parties reached an agreement on accelerated court proceedings. In response, Musk’s legal team recalled his recent offer to acquire OpenAI for $97.4 billion, which the company rejected.

“If OpenAI’s board of directors had actually considered this proposal, which they were obligated to do, they would have seen how serious it was. It is telling that the need to pay fair market value for OpenAI assets allegedly “interferes” with their business plans.” Mark Toberoff, Elon Musk’s lawyer, emphasized.

On the X social network, OpenAI published a post where it characterized Musk’s actions as “unfair tactics” aimed at slowing down the company’s activities. The billionaire was also accused of seeking to gain control over leading innovations in the field of artificial intelligence for personal gain. A jury trial in the case is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
