Over 270 thousand hryvnias were collected in Lviv for the rehabilitation of young patients Unbroken kids

War leaves behind not only destruction and loss, it deeply wounds the most vulnerable. Children who have survived bombings, evacuations, loss of relatives or physical injuries need special care. Their childhoods have been interrupted in the most painful way, and recovery – both physical and psychological – requires not only professional medical care, but also the warmth, attention and care of society. Therefore, initiatives aimed at supporting such children are not only important – they become true symbols of humanity in times of war.
One of the examples of such a touching and at the same time practical manifestation of support was the charity auction in Lviv, held at the Center for Intellectual Art “Mercury”. Its goal was to raise funds for the children’s rehabilitation unit Unbroken kids – a unique space where children are treated and rehabilitated after serious illnesses, complex operations, burns, wounds and injuries caused by war. She reported about it Lviv City Council.
Thanks to the active participation of those who care, it was possible to collect 6,800 US dollars, which at the current exchange rate is more than 270 thousand hryvnias. All these funds will be directed to the needs of young patients who undergo treatment as part of the Unbroken kids program – an initiative that unites specialist doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists and volunteers to return children to a full life.
As reported by the Lviv City Council, auction participants had the opportunity to bargain for truly exceptional lots. Among them are a t-shirt with the autograph of the world football star Cristiano Ronaldo, authentic rhinestones from the legendary gloves of Michael Jackson, footballs with the signatures of the players of the national team of Ukraine and FC “Karpaty”, as well as a special spiritual lot – a facsimile of Tomos about the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine with the signature of Metropolitan Epiphany.
The organizer of the charity event was the Center for Intellectual Art “Mercury”, which is not the first time to hold events for the benefit of wounded, sick and traumatized children. It was possible to participate in the auction both offline, in the Center itself, and online — thanks to the help of coordinators who processed the applications of remote participants in real time.
The auction not only made it possible to raise funds for practical help, but also created an emotional wave of support around the topic of injured children. Each of the participants had the opportunity not only to purchase a unique item, but also to feel their involvement in a common cause – saving the childhood destroyed by the war.
According to medical services, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, hundreds of children in Ukraine have suffered serious physical injuries, more than a thousand need long-term rehabilitation, and tens of thousands need psychological support. The Unbroken Center in Lviv has become one of the few places where such help is systematically available, qualified and free of charge. That is why the financing of such institutions is a matter not only of individual benefactors, but also of the whole community.
This auction showed that even in times of general fatigue and anxiety, society does not lose its ability to empathize. And while the war continues and children continue to lose their health through explosions, fires, evacuations and rocket fire, support for centers like Unbroken Kids remains vital.
A child who got a chance to walk again, breathe without pain, restore trust in the world is not just a patient, but the future of the country. It is for this reason that it is worth joining efforts, donating time, resources, funds and emotions — to help those who have suffered the most, without having any choice.
