Correspondence of prisoners of war with their relatives is carried out with the support of the postal operator "Nova poshta".

Since August 2022, more than 2,800 letters from Ukrainian prisoners of war to their relatives, as well as almost 9,700 letters to prisoners from their loved ones, have been sent to Ukraine. It is an important component of communication that helps maintain the morale of both POWs and their families.
Correspondence of prisoners of war is regulated by Article No. 71 of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, which guarantees the right to exchange correspondence. The rules for writing letters were developed by the National Information Bureau, which works under the leadership of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
The organization of the delivery of letters in both directions is carried out with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. It is important to note that these letters are given only to those prisoners of war whose status is confirmed by the ICRC.
In addition, correspondence between prisoners of war and their loved ones is supported by the postal operator “Nova Poshta”, which provides free of charge relevant services within the framework of the “Humanitarian Post of Ukraine” program. This ensures the prompt and reliable delivery of correspondence, which is an important part of supporting families and prisoners during these difficult times.
