People’s deputies supported the creation of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

People’s deputies at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on March 27 supported creation of the Temporary Investigative Commission (TCC) on the investigation of possible violations of the legislation of Ukraine in the implementation of measures for the defense of the state. The new commission included 17 people’s deputies.

As Oleksandr Bakumov, head of the newly created TSK (Servant of the People faction), explained during the briefing, this commission will have broader powers compared to the previous temporary special commission that dealt with similar issues.

“There was a relevant commission in the Ukrainian parliament that dealt with issues of fortifications. We lacked the relevant powers”Bakumov explained.

He noted that the previous commission did not even have the opportunity to officially summon a specific person to provide explanations.

“The investigative commission has these functions, moreover, it can even use a pretext if the person does not arrive, as well as certain measures of an administrative nature.” Bakumov specified.

When asked about the main areas of work of TSK, he answered:

“We are talking about political, parliamentary instruments regarding certain circumstances that took place during the implementation of measures for the defense of the state. This also applies to the arrangement of the fortification line. We are talking in general about the system of defense of the state, any military offenses and corruption offenses. Including the activities of territorial recruitment centers, their authorized persons.”
