Poisoning by tea with cyanide: the bodies of six foreigners were found in an elite hotel in Bangkok

Three men and three women stayed in different rooms, but all the bodies were found in one room.

Thai police are investigating the mysterious deaths of six foreign nationals whose bodies were found in a room at the luxury Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Bangkok on Tuesday night. About this informs Reuters. The police are also looking for a seventh person who may be connected to the incident.

Police representative Titi Sengsawang told reporters that all the dead were ethnic Vietnamese, and two of them had US passports. They checked into the hotel at different times after arriving on Saturday and Sunday.

A group of three men and three women checked into different rooms, but their bodies were found in the same room without any signs of a struggle.

“It wasn’t suicide, but someone caused their death”, – said Titi.

He added that police were looking for a seventh person who was linked to the group and also had a registered room at the hotel.

Titi also noted that the foreigners were due to leave on Tuesday and their belongings were already packed. The bodies were discovered by a maid who noticed that the room was still occupied. The food remained untouched, but the tea was drunk. Witnesses say the victims were foaming at the mouth, indicating possible cyanide poisoning.

Thai Prime Minister Sretta Thawisin, who visited the hotel Tuesday night with senior officials, ordered a swift investigation into the incident. The government issued a statement stating that the issue is a priority and requires immediate attention.

Now the police are carefully studying all possible versions of the event, including poisoning, and are focusing on finding the seventh member of the group, who may have key information about what happened. Authorities are also working with international partners to identify the victims and trace their route to Thailand.
