Polish farmers plan to block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine in case of non-compliance with their requirements

Polish farmers are threatening to block all checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border after December 10 if the government does not meet their demands. This statement sounded during the negotiations in Medica, which took place on Sunday with the participation of protesters and the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski.
According to the results of the meeting, the minister promised to respond to the farmers’ demands by December 10. The main claims of the farmers concern opposition to the free trade agreement between the EU and the countries of South America, which, in their opinion, can lead to a significant increase in the import of agricultural products to the Polish market. In addition, they insist on maintaining the agricultural tax for farmers at the level of 2023.
The protesters said they had temporarily suspended the action, but were ready to resume it if the government did not take action.
“We are giving the minister time, and if nothing is done, we will definitely go to the border again. And it will be a mass protest, there will be protests along the entire eastern border.”– Roman Kondruv, head of the “Deceited Village” organization, emphasized.
Farmers also express concern about the possible influx of cheap agricultural products from Mercosur countries. This union includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and other states of the region. They fear that the government’s inaction will deal a serious blow to local manufacturers.
