FATF left Russia without membership, but did not blacklist it

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) upheld the decision to suspend Russia’s membership, but did not blacklist it.
About this reported the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine based on the results of the FATF plenary session.
The Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, expressed disappointment with such a decision, noting that Ukraine expected more decisive actions from the FATF in connection with numerous evidence of violations by Russia. He emphasized that the lack of tough restrictive measures against the Russian Federation works in favor of the Kremlin, allowing it and other criminals to undermine the international financial system.
At the same time, the FATF adopted a statement in which it warned all countries about the strengthening of North Korea’s financial ties with the international financial system and called for strict application of targeted financial sanctions against the DPRK.
FATF is an international organization that unites 39 countries with the aim of combating money laundering and terrorist financing. FATF membership provides an opportunity to track the origin of funds during international payments. Russia was a member of the FATF, but its membership was suspended on February 24, 2022.
Ukraine has repeatedly called on the FATF to include Russia in the black list, but the organization has refused every time.
