PrivatBank temporarily reduced tariffs for international transfers: relevance for Ukrainian refugees

During the war, millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave abroad in search of safety and better living conditions. For many of them, the issue of international money transfers has become extremely important, because it concerns not only helping relatives who have remained in Ukraine, but also ensuring their own financial needs. With this in mind, every solution that makes it easier or cheaper to transfer funds attracts a lot of attention and interest among Ukrainian citizens abroad.

PrivatBank lowers tariffs for international transfers

On December 24, 2024, the state-owned PrivatBank announced a temporary halving of tariffs for international transfers to foreign cards. About this informs bank press office.

This step was taken during the winter holidays to support Ukrainians who are outside the country, as well as their families, who receive financial assistance from abroad. The bank’s press service noted that the promotion will be valid until February 15, 2025.

As part of this initiative, tariffs for international transfers through Privat24 from PrivatBank currency cards to foreign cards have been reduced to 1% (minimum UAH 50) instead of the previous 2% (minimum UAH 50). Such a solution allows the bank’s clients to significantly save on transaction costs, especially during the holiday period, when the number of transfers traditionally increases.

Terms of transfers

To make an international transfer, you need a PrivatBank currency card, which can be opened remotely through the Privat24 service. Transfers are available in US dollars or euros, which makes this service convenient for most Ukrainians who work or live in Europe or the US.

In addition, the bank’s customers can easily buy currency online through the mobile application, which is also an important advantage for those who want to quickly carry out financial transactions without visiting bank branches.

Meaning for Ukrainians abroad

This reduction in tariffs has a significant social and economic weight. For many Ukrainians who have lost their jobs or are in dire financial straits because of the war, the cheaper remittances are an important relief. At the same time, this step allows you to keep in touch with relatives and support them financially. Most refugees regularly send money to pay for housing, medical treatment or other urgent needs of their loved ones in Ukraine.

PrivatBank’s initiative to temporarily reduce tariffs for international transfers is a timely and important support for Ukrainians in this difficult period. This not only helps reduce the financial burden on refugees and their families, but also emphasizes the bank’s social responsibility. Until February 15, 2025, clients have the opportunity to take advantage of discounts, which will make financial assistance to relatives more accessible and effective.
