Production of ammunition in Ukraine has been eased: the Ministry of Digital Transformation announces new solutions

A meeting was held between 50 Ukrainian producers of ammunition, explosives, and initiating devices and representatives of the Security and Defence Forces. The discussions focused on codification, testing standards, formation of frontline needs and procurement procedures, as well as user feedback. This was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
‘We are gradually expanding the Ukrainian market of ammunition and detonators. The government has already simplified the conditions for manufacturers so that explosives and components can be manufactured, purchased and imported without permits and licences,’ said Fedorov.
He also stressed that such meetings facilitate closer cooperation between producers and the military, helping producers to better understand the needs of the frontline.
‘Ukraine has the potential to produce ammunition, and the development of the market can change the situation at the front, so we continue to work on this track,’ the official added.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s arms production tripled in 2023, and doubled in the first eight months of this year. Defence Minister Rustem Umerov noted that Ukraine has already invested $4 billion in the development of the military industry, and next year funding is planned to be further increased, with a focus on the development of drones and long-range weapons, including ballistic missiles.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian enterprises are capable of producing up to 4 million drones a year, of which more than 1.5 million are already under contract. In addition, 15-20 units of the Bohdan self-propelled artillery system are manufactured every month, and a new repair base for vehicles has been set up, which allowed the first Marder infantry fighting vehicle repaired in Ukraine to roll off the assembly line in June this year.
