Prosecutor who illegally received disability will be tried based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigation
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation under the procedural guidance of the General Inspectorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office completed pre-trial investigation in the case of the deputy head of the Uman district prosecutor’s office of the Cherkasy region, who illegally received a pension on the basis of an illegally established disability through fraudulent actions.
According to the investigation, in 2020, the prosecutor, intending to issue a disability group without grounds, turned to the family doctor with complaints of pain in the digestive organs. After that, he was referred to the medical and advisory commission, where medical documents with unconfirmed diagnoses were drawn up. On the basis of these documents, he was sent to a medical and social examination.
Despite the absence of serious health disorders, representatives of the KP “Cherkasy Regional Center of Medical and Social Expertise of the Cherkasy Regional Council” made a decision to assign the prosecutor II disability group for life. The whole procedure — from the first visit to the doctor to the establishment of disability — took only four days.
After receiving a certificate of disability, the official submitted documents to the Pension Fund, after which he received 477 thousand hryvnias of disability pension illegally in the period from July 2020 to the end of November 2024.
During the pre-trial investigation, the person involved was dismissed from his position. He was charged with 4 Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — fraud committed on a large scale. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.
In addition, an indictment was sent to the court against the head of the Cherkasy Regional Medical and Social Expert Commission No. 2, who assisted the prosecutor in the prompt registration of disability. The actions of this official are qualified under Part 1 Art. 28, ch. 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — official forgery committed by a group of persons.
