Romania ready to help Moldova counter Russian interference in upcoming parliamentary elections

The President of Romania, Nikušor Dan, said that his country is ready to provide technical assistance to Moldova to counter Russia’s hybrid influence during the upcoming parliamentary elections. About this informsDigi24 TV channel.
During a conversation with journalists, Dan mentioned statements by NATO and the EU, which accuse Russia of waging hybrid warfare, in particular through cyber attacks and disinformation campaigns.
“For Moldova, the facts are even more clear and serious. Because, in addition to these two components, there was another component – bribery of voters, which has been proven in several thousand cases investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova.”, he noted.
The President emphasized that Romania is ready to provide Moldova with the necessary technical expertise, in particular in the field of cyber security, emphasizing that this does not mean interference in the election process itself.
“It is obvious that we are in a better position than the Republic of Moldova, and at the request of our colleagues, we can help them”Dan said, adding that he had already discussed this topic with the President of Moldova, Maya Sandu.
It will be recalled that on July 30, Maya Sandu warned about Russia’s plans for unprecedented interference in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28. She said she expects disinformation campaigns, manipulation of public opinion, organized paid protests and attempts to sabotage voting among voters in the diaspora.
