Romania will shoot down drones illegally crossing the country’s borders

The Senate of Romania approved a bill regulating the procedure for granting the Romanian army the right to shoot down drones that violate the country’s airspace. About this informs Digi24.
The document defines the mechanisms for controlling the national airspace and establishes the responsible authorities that will prevent the unauthorized use of both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the new regulations, drones illegally crossing Romania’s border and flying without a proper permit can be neutralized or destroyed if their flight cannot be brought under control by Romanian or NATO forces. It is also envisaged to create a new system of coordination between state structures for effective airspace management and ensuring flight safety.
According to a separate provision, public and private owners or managers of facilities requiring protection from drones are required to implement and maintain the necessary security measures.
We will remind that on the territory of Romania, the fall of drones was repeatedly recorded after the attacks of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian ports in the Odesa region.
