Russia continues shelling, despite the announced “Easter truce”: NSDC

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated, that despite Vladimir Putin’s public statements about the beginning of the “Easter truce”, Russia has not stopped shelling and is actively fighting in all directions.
“The Russians continue to fire in all directions, as before”, — noted Kovalenko, adding that the greatest intensity of attacks is observed in the east of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that the President of the Russian Federation announced the “Easter truce”, which, according to him, was supposed to begin on April 19 at 6:00 p.m. and last until midnight on April 21. The Kremlin said that the decision was dictated by “humanitarian considerations” and indicated that the ceasefire would be valid only under the condition of “mutual compliance by the Kyiv regime.”
In response, the Ukrainian side stressed that it does not trust such statements from the Kremlin, recalling Russia’s repeated violations of previous agreements.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the situation, emphasized that actions are not important, and recalled that back in March, Ukraine agreed to the 30-day truce proposed by the United States, but Russia refused to support it.
