The Slavyansk City District Court of the Donetsk Region sentenced a former law enforcement officer who killed an acquaintance during a conflict at a party in May 2022. The attacker, being intoxicated, used a service weapon, shooting a man in the back who was trying to break up the fight.

Trying to hide the crime, the ex-law enforcement officer took the victim outside the city, where he finished him off with several shots and planted a grenade under his body. However, he was arrested the next day.
In the course of the investigation, SBI officers seized a number of physical evidence, including a registered firearm, a bullet, shell casings and a grenade, and conducted more than ten examinations. Despite the fact that the accused pleaded not guilty, the collected evidence became decisive for the court, which issued a guilty verdict.
“The court found the suspect guilty of premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder, committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons, with the aim of concealing another criminal offense committed by a person who had previously committed premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115, Part 2 of Article 15, paragraphs 5, 9, 13 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment., – the SBI notes.
The investigation in the case was conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation, and the procedural management was carried out by the Donetsk specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
