“Russia did not attack us”: Hungary does not see the point of going to the Global Peace Summit

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijjarto, expressed doubts about the participation of his country in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland due to the lack of representation of Russia. Although the final decision has not yet been taken, he noted that without the participation of both sides of the conflict, there is no point in such a conference.
This is what the Hungarian minister said said in an interview with ONT publication.
“If both sides of the war are not represented, I think it is a legitimate question whether the whole conference makes sense in terms of the ultimate goal, which is the pursuit of peace. Therefore, we believe that a peace conference makes real sense and offers the best hope for peace if both sides sit at the table“, – said Sijarto.
Szijjarto also emphasized that Hungary does not feel the threat of war, as it is not under attack from Russia or other states.
“Russia did not attack us. We are not at war. Ukraine is not fighting for us. If we had been attacked, it would have been a different situation, but we were not attacked, nor were the other states of the European Union. NATO’s Secretary General has been very clear that none of the alliance’s allies are under military threat. So if we are not under military threat, why do we think this is our war?”, Sijarto added.
