Russia is building protected shelters for aircraft near the border with Ukraine: British intelligence

Russia is intensively building fortified shelters at airfields near the Ukrainian border. About this reported intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.
As noted in intelligence, such actions may be a reaction to effective strikes by Ukrainian drones on Russian airfields and other military facilities.
“In response to numerous successful strikes by Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems, Russia launched a program to protect vulnerable aircraft at a number of airfields near the Russian-Ukrainian border”, the message says.
In particular, construction of fortified shelters is underway at the Millerovo, Kursk-Skhidny and Gvardiyske air bases. Satellite images show that the structures have a domed roof and impact-resistant doors. British intelligence recalled that Millerovo Air Base is located 17 kilometers east of the border with Ukraine.
“Millerovo Air Base is located approximately 17 km east of the Russian-Ukrainian border and was last attacked on July 22, 2025. In addition to the construction of secure aircraft shelters, eight newly constructed ground-based aircraft shelters are likely to be nearing operational readiness.” – the report says.
