Russia refuses peace talks, insisting on Kyiv’s surrender

The Russian Federation continues to demonstrate its intentions to seize even more territory in Ukraine, categorically refusing any peace negotiations or compromises. Moscow insists on the unconditional surrender of Ukraine and declares the inadmissibility of “freezing” the front line. About this it is said in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Serhii Naryshkin said that the Kremlin is ready for negotiations, but only under conditions that allow Russia to continue to implement its aggressive goals. He rejected the idea of creating demilitarized zones and said that achieving peace is possible only by “eliminating the causes” that, according to the Kremlin, “forced” Russia to start a full-scale war.

“Such rhetoric shows that Moscow continues to insist on an uncompromising surrender of Ukraine. The Kremlin has also repeatedly demanded control over all the territories of the four illegally annexed regions, including those currently under Ukrainian control.”, the message says.

According to ISW, Russia is probably planning a new offensive on the southeastern part of the Dnipropetrovsk region. This region is not included in the illegally annexed territories, but its occupation may become part of the Kremlin’s long-standing goal of capturing the entire Donetsk region.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov emphasized that Russia will not accept the “freezing” of the conflict on the front line, as proposed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
