SAPO filed a lawsuit to recover unfounded assets used by the spouses of metropolitan judges to the state revenue

Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) turned to to the High Anti-Corruption Court (HCC) with a claim for recovery in favor of the state of unsubstantiated assets in the amount of more than 7 million hryvnias, which are used by the spouses of the capital’s judges.

“The Prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, based on the materials of the NAKC and on the basis of independently obtained evidence, filed a lawsuit for the recognition of unsubstantiated assets in the total amount of UAH 7,323,545, which are used by the family of judges of the district courts of Kyiv, and their collection into state income (civil confiscation)“, SAP reported.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the lawsuit concerns a part of the apartment worth UAH 6,159,790, a parking space for UAH 622,200, and a part of another parking space worth UAH 541,556. All objects are located in an elite residential complex in Kyiv. The SAP emphasizes that part of the specified assets was registered to relatives of the judges, however, the spouses, directly or indirectly, are able to perform actions similar to the exercise of the right to dispose of property.

The investigation established that in 2022-2023, the real value of the purchased property significantly exceeded the amount indicated in the contracts – in some cases twice. In addition, the analysis of the incomes of the judges and their relatives confirmed that they could not purchase this property at the expense of legal income.

“In view of the above, the prosecutor of the SAP applied to the High Anti-Corruption Court with a lawsuit. According to the prosecutor’s statement, the court imposed an arrest on the subject of the lawsuit in order to secure the lawsuit.”, the message says.
