SBU neutralizes FSB spy recruited through dating sites

Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained an informant of the FSB of Russia, who was active in the Donetsk and Sumy regions, scouting the positions of the Ukrainian troops and correcting the airstrikes of the Russian occupiers. About this informs SBU

The enemy was most interested in the coordinates of the Ukrainian troops in the Pokrovsky direction, one of the hottest sectors of the front.

As it turned out, the FSB agent turned out to be a 23-year-old resident of Pokrovsk. Russian special services recruited him through the so-called “honey trap” – a young man was looking for a girl on dating sites, and a representative of the FSB approached him, offering a “closer acquaintance”.

Later, the agent was tasked with gathering information about the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk region. He secretly recorded the location of Ukrainian troops and transmitted the data to the occupiers. In addition, he reported on the consequences of airstrikes on the city.

After carrying out reconnaissance tasks in Donetsk region, the FSB sent an agent to Sumy region, where he was supposed to observe the work of Ukrainian air defense on the border. To do this, he rented an apartment in Sumy and set up an observation post in it, installing a mobile phone with additional power for continuous online broadcasting of air attacks on the city.

The SBU detained the informant while on duty, seizing the phones he used to transmit intelligence to Russia.

He was charged under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — unauthorized dissemination of information about the transfer or placement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under martial law. The detainee is currently in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
