Scholz offers a peace plan for Ukraine with the risk of losing territories: La Repubblica

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is preparing a “peace plan” for the war between Russia and Ukraine, which provides for the preservation of occupied Ukrainian territories by Russia. After the unsuccessful election results in Thuringia and Saxony, where his party suffered significant losses, Scholz decided to make the Ukrainian issue the central theme of his strategy to turn the situation in his favor. The publication also refers to sources in the parliament who claim that the chancellor, together with some party members, is working on a new agreement similar to the “Minsk Agreements”, which provides for the transfer of part of the Ukrainian territories to the control of Russia.

According to the source, Sholtz is ready to “force Ukraine to make concessions”, regardless of the possible consequences.

The Chancellor of Germany also publicly stated the need to start negotiations with Russia regarding the settlement of the conflict. He emphasized that this issue was discussed with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and an agreement was allegedly reached regarding Russia’s participation in the next peace conference.

The former ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, supported the idea of ​​Germany’s mediation in the negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, calling on Scholz to make direct contact with Vladimir Putin to discuss further steps.
