Shooting in Khmelnytskyi region: a man fired 60 rounds, injured a policeman and a civilian

In the village of Oleshyn, Khmelnytskyi region, on September 14, an intoxicated man fired 60 rounds at two National Police service vehicles with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. The incident began when a police patrol crew stopped a local resident’s car for a check for violating the curfew. The driver was found to be in a state of alcohol intoxication, and he was issued a report for driving a vehicle in such a state.
After drawing up the protocol, the driver left his passenger in the car and went home. When he returned, he already had a Kalashnikov assault rifle with him and opened fire on the police. The police returned fire and called for reinforcements.

“As a result, the shooter injured one of the police officers and a passenger in his own car. They were hospitalized for medical assistance. The law enforcement officer is in serious condition.”, the police said
Two official vehicles were damaged: one to the police patrol crew that stopped the violator, and the other to the special unit that arrived at the scene for support.

The man was detained by soldiers of the KORD special unit. Criminal proceedings have been opened for the attack on law enforcement officers under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer.
