Square money was introduced in Ukraine: the NBU showed what the novelty looks like

National Bank of Ukraine presented a new commemorative coin that will become a symbol of the country’s digital progress.
The silver coin called “Digital State” was presented by the Chairman of the National Bank Andrii Pyshnyi during the UAFIN.TECH 2024 conference. The event brought together representatives of state regulators, financial and technological spheres to discuss the current trends in the innovative development of the country.
“Ukraine demonstrates that digital transformation is a necessary step for the development of modern states. And even in conditions of war, we continue our path to new technologies, destroy barriers between people and services, both state and financial. I am grateful for this to everyone who does their contribution to the development of digital Ukraine, and especially to our partners from the Ministry of Digital Transformation”, — Pyshnyi noted.
The obverse of the coin depicts a small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, surrounded by an electronic network, which symbolizes the unity and integrity of the state. The reverse of the coin is decorated with a map of Ukraine, made in the style of a binary code, in which the word “UKRAINE” is encrypted. This design element emphasizes the importance of technology in strengthening Ukraine’s national identity and integration into the global digital world.
The author of the coin is the artist Andriy Sagach, who in his work managed to harmoniously combine traditional values and modern innovations. Its denomination is 10 hryvnias, and the form is made in the form of a square. The coin is made of 999 silver, the pure mass of which is 31.1 g. The band of the coin is smooth. The total circulation is limited to 7,500 copies.
