Sweden announced the allocation of 22.5 million kroner to support women’s rights in Ukraine

The Swedish government has decided to provide financial assistance in the amount of 22.5 million Swedish kroner (about 2.22 million US dollars) to strengthen the rights and opportunities of Ukrainian women. About this reported Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine.

Funding will be directed to the program implemented by UN Women in Ukraine. The initiative is aimed at supporting Ukrainian women who play a key role in society during the war – as military personnel, volunteers, entrepreneurs and politicians.

The statement of the Swedish Embassy emphasized:

“On March 8, we pay tribute to Ukrainian women who courageously defend their country and all of Europe as military and humanitarian workers, entrepreneurs and political leaders.”

UN Women expressed gratitude for such support, stressing that international solidarity with women and girls in Ukraine is of great importance, especially in difficult times of war.

The allocation of funds was part of an initiative announced for International Women’s Rights Day and reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to support equality and opportunities for women in Ukraine.
