Preliminary conditions for a meeting between Putin and Trump are not needed: Peskov

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, express readiness for a meeting, but there are no specifics in this direction yet. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmytro Peskov. He also noted that no preconditions are required for the meeting of the two political leaders, reports rosZMI.

“President Putin has repeatedly stated his openness to contacts with international leaders, in particular with US President Donald Trump. The president himself has repeatedly spoken about it, and we have also repeatedly confirmed it. No conditions are required for this. All that is needed is a mutual desire and political will to lead dialogue and solve existing problems through negotiations”, Peskov noted.

He emphasized that Trump also expresses readiness to resolve issues through dialogue, and this is welcomed in the Kremlin. Regarding the organization of the meeting, Peskov noted that there are no concrete agreements yet.

“We proceed from a mutual readiness to meet. Obviously, after Mr. Trump takes office in the Oval Office, there will be some changes“, the representative of the Kremlin said.

When asked about a possible tripartite meeting between Trump, Putin and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, Peskov replied that there are no specific details on this matter either.
