Sweden to allocate $176 million to Ukraine due to reduced US support

Sweden will provide Ukraine with humanitarian aid worth about SEK 1.7 billion (approximately $176 million) in response to worsening global crises and reduced support from the United States. About this reported press office of the Swedish government.
Minister of International Aid and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dusa stated that the government has decided to redistribute resources for 2025 within regional and thematic aid programs to respond to the complex humanitarian situation, particularly in Ukraine.
“We are releasing 1.67 billion kroner to support Ukraine and vital humanitarian aid around the world. Sweden will not be able to fully compensate for the reduction in US aid, but we must do everything we can to support Ukraine and save lives.”, – emphasized the minister.
Dusa emphasized that the support of Ukraine and its neighbors is crucial for the stability of Europe.
“Ukraine is the highest priority for Sweden both in international aid and in foreign policy”, he noted.
He also drew attention to the need for an international reaction to the actions of the Russian Federation.
“Ukraine is fighting not only for its freedom, but also for the freedom of the whole of Europe”. Dusa concluded.
