Switzerland changes its border with Italy due to melting glaciers

Switzerland has revised its national border with Italy due to melting glaciers caused by climate change. About this informs Swissinfo.

Most of the border between the two countries is defined by glaciers and snowfields, which, due to their melting, affect the change of national borders. The border has been adjusted in the areas of Monte Rosa, Caban Glacier and Gobba di Rollin. In May 2023, the Italian-Swiss commission agreed on a new project that takes into account the interests of both countries.

Switzerland also changed the border line with France. In the canton of Geneva, during the construction of a new tram line, there were minor changes to the border between the communes of Perly-Certu and Bardonnex. In addition, the boundary changes concern works on the Hermans and Foron rivers. Switzerland and France agreed to exchange equal parts of the territory.

We will remind you that recently in Switzerland, the Sarco euthanasia capsule was used for the first time. The American woman who used it drew the attention of the police, who are investigating possible aiding and abetting suicide. In connection with this, several people were detained.
