Switzerland has stopped exporting its ammunition to Poland due to its transfer to Ukraine

The Swiss government announced the suspension of ammunition exports to a Polish company after discovering the facts of their supply to Ukraine, international media reported.
According to the publication AP this decision was made after it became known about 645,000 Swiss small-caliber cartridges entering Ukraine. And this is a violation of current Swiss legislation. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) stated that the risk of diversion of Swiss ammunition to Ukraine is considered “too high”.
The investigation began after Defense One published last November. At that time, it was reported that the Ukrainian company had received the indicated ammunition, manufactured by the SwissP Defense company and delivered by the Polish importer UMO.
SECO confirmed that the Polish company violated the terms of the contract, which allowed the resale of ammunition exclusively within Poland. As a result, the cartridges got to Ukraine. In response, SwissP Defense said it complies with all regulations in Switzerland, but declined to comment on its relationship with clients. UMO had no comment at the time of publication.
Switzerland, which traditionally adheres to a policy of neutrality, has repeatedly refused European countries to transfer Swiss-made weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. However, in June 2023, the country’s parliament decided that the re-export of weapons to countries that “share Switzerland’s values” could be allowed under certain conditions without violating the principle of neutrality.
