Taiwan to allocate $2 million for demining Ukraine

Taiwan will join in financing the international coalition for demining the territory of Ukraine, led by Lithuania and Iceland. The country will provide $2 million to the Coalition Fund. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense held a meeting with representatives of Taiwan in Vilnius to discuss support for Ukraine, in particular regarding humanitarian demining operations.
“During the meeting, Taiwan expressed its intention to contribute to Lithuania’s demining efforts in Ukraine and contribute $2 million to the Coalition Fund”, – noted in the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
During the negotiations, the parties emphasized the importance of cooperation between the countries participating in the coalition and Taiwan, because “this is one of the ways for democratic societies to cooperate on specific initiatives that contribute to the security and reconstruction of Ukraine.”
“Taiwan and Lithuania unanimously recognize the importance and necessity of cooperation in solving the issue of demining in Ukraine. Both sides have recognized that dangerous remnants of war that have not exploded pose a serious threat to the safety of civilians and are a major obstacle to socio-economic progress in conflict-affected regions.” – added the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.
