Taxes and the budget will be discussed: experts from the IMF mission have arrived in Kyiv

Ukraine's agreement with the IMF on the EFF program for $15.6 billion was approved in March 2023.

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund arrived in Kyiv to discuss the budget and taxes. This was stated by Vahram Stepanyan, permanent representative of the IMF in Ukraine. write “RBK-Ukraine”.

“A team of IMF specialists led by Gavin Gray begins meetings in Kyiv today with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and other partners. Discussions will focus on the tax and budget plans of the authorities for the second half of the current year and the medium-term perspective.” – the statement says.

We will remind that in March 2023, Ukraine’s agreement with the IMF on the EFF program in the amount of 15.6 billion dollars was approved. As part of this program, Ukraine has already received five tranches totaling about $7.6 billion, including $900 million in March and the last tranche of $2.2 billion in July.

In 2024, Ukraine may receive two more tranches of $1.1 billion in October and December.

The program also provides political commitments of partners to allocate 122 billion dollars until 2027. At the same time, the IMF has developed a negative scenario for Ukraine’s economy in the event of a protracted war, according to which the total financing may increase to 140.7 billion dollars.
