Tens of thousands of his supporters came to Nasrallah’s funeral

The funeral ceremony of the former leader of the radical Islamist group “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed half a year ago as a result of an attack by Israeli fighter jets on the group’s central headquarters, was held in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. The memorial service was attended by tens of thousands of supporters of Nasrallah, informs “Al Jazeera”.
The memorial service was held at the Camille Chamoun Stadium in Beirut. The coffin containing the body of the former Hezbollah leader was placed in the center of the stadium, and the mourning ceremony was broadcast on large screens in the city.
About 800 officials from 65 countries attended the funeral. Among them, in particular, are the representatives of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Kalibaf, and the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi. In addition, the ceremony was attended by high-ranking Lebanese officials, including the speaker of the parliament and representatives of the country’s president and prime minister.
The new head of Hezbollah, Naim Kassem, who previously served as Nasrallah’s deputy, said on TV that the movement, recognized as a terrorist organization in Germany, the United States, Israel and several Arab states, will “continue to follow the path” of its former leader.
“I am loyal to Nasrallah’s legacy” – emphasized Naim Kasem.
