Tesla delivers a car to a customer’s home without a driver for the first time in history

The American company Tesla for the first time in history made an autonomous delivery of a car to a customer. About this reported Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

“The first fully autonomous delivery of a Tesla Model Y from the factory to a customer’s home across town, including freeways, was just completed a day ahead of schedule!”, says the message.

Ashok Elluswamy, the company’s head of artificial intelligence and autopilot, noted that the top speed the car reached while in motion was 72 miles per hour (about 115 km/h). During the trip, there were no passengers or driver in the car, and no remote control was carried out by the operators.

We will remind, on June 23, Tesla officially started testing the robotaxi service in Austin, which Musk announced for several years. The cost of the trip is currently a flat $4.20. 10-12 cars take part in testing.

At the same time, public tests revealed a number of problems in the operation of the autopilot. In videos posted by users, vehicles have been recorded driving into the oncoming lane, braking unexpectedly, stopping at intersections, or dropping off passengers in non-designated places.
