The most important test of this year’s graduates – the national multimedia test – is behind us. It’s time to decide on specialties, universities and form of education. We monitored thematic groups on social networks and found out that many applicants and their parents have a lot of questions about admission – how to calculate the competitive score, whether regional coefficients will be applied, how many applications can be submitted this year, etc.
So we provide answers to the most requested information requests from entrants and their support group.
In 2024, the ranking score will be used for admission to the first year of bachelor’s or master’s degree for medical, pharmaceutical and veterinary specialties. It is calculated based on the results of the NMT, points for the creative competition (if it is held), and a single professional entrance test (for those who take it). Regional and industry coefficients are also taken into account. The rating score is rounded up to three decimal places and cannot exceed 200 points.
All coefficients for all specialties are the same. They are presented on the websites of universities and on the portal of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The website Osvita.ua also offers a digital calculator (https://osvita.ua/consultations/konkurs-ball/) where applicants can enter their grades in the appropriate cells and get the final competition score.
A regional coefficient is used for individual educational institutions. It depends on the actual location of the higher and is:
- 1.07 – for universities located in Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv regions;
- 1.04 – for universities located in the Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions, as well as in the Buchansky district of the Kyiv region.
When enrolling in studies in 2024, the points of NMT-2024, NMT-2023, NMT-2022, ZNO-2021 are counted for obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
If the entrant passed the tests both last year and this year, he has the right to choose a higher score to improve his chances of success.
From July 1, applicants will be able to register their personal electronic account in the EDEBO system. What else can this portal be useful for? Here are the results of the introductory campaigns starting in 2018. So, you can find out the number of state-ordered places for a specific specialty in a specific higher education institution, the passing score for state budget places, and accordingly assess your chances of success.
Applicants can increase their competitive score if they choose a specialty with special support from the state. In 2024, the list of such specialties will be wider than in the past. It is about 64 specialties in the following fields:
- Education
- natural Sciences
- Mathematics and statistics
- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Chemical and bioengineering
- Electronics, automation and electronic communications
- Production and technologies
- Architecture and construction
- Agricultural sciences and food
- Military science, national security, security of the state border
- Civil security
- Transportation
If, according to the calculations, the competitive score is 130 or more, there are chances of obtaining a place in the state order. It is about any specialty, except those related to the branches 081 Law, 281 Public management and administration, 291 International relations, public communications, regional studies, 292 International economic relations.
For these specialties, regardless of the order form, the passing score starts from 150.
All applications are submitted in electronic form. This year, the applicant can submit 5 applications for the budget and up to 10 applications for the contractual form of education. At the same time, the applicant indicates the priority – from 1 to 5, determining where he wants to study the most and where the least. A letter of motivation must be attached to each application.
In it, in an arbitrary form, the applicant talks about his personal interest in entering the specialty, informs about his achievements, achievements and expectations from higher education.

Acceptance of applications and documents from entrants begins on July 19. Registration of entrants’ applications ends at 18:00 on July 31.
