The agreement between Hungary and Ukraine will not include NATO membership: FOREIGN MINISTRY

Hungary and Ukraine are discussing a comprehensive cooperation agreement, but without a clause on Ukraine’s accession to NATO. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mate Pácsolai, according to Magyar Nemzet.
According to Pácsolai, an important part of this agreement should be the ‘restoration of the rights of the Hungarian minority’ in Ukraine.
‘At the same time, during the negotiations, we made it clear to the Ukrainian side that Ukraine’s intention to join NATO cannot be part of this agreement,’ he added.
Pácsolai also noted that Hungary’s position on Ukraine’s membership in NATO remains unchanged, as Budapest believes that it could lead to the outbreak of World War III.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the development of a bilateral document with Hungary to resolve current and past misunderstandings. The Head of State stressed that security and NATO membership issues are part of the agreement under discussion. Zelenskyy also called on Hungary not to block Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is seeking an invitation to join NATO before the end of the war with Russia, but Hungary is currently opposed to such a move.
