US poll worker arrested for threatening voters

An employee of a polling station in Georgia has been arrested in the United States and accused of sending threats to blow up voters. This was reported by Reuters.

Federal prosecutors said that 25-year-old Nicholas Wimbish was working at a polling station in Jones County in Gray, Georgia, when a verbal conflict arose between him and a voter on 16 October.

According to prosecutors, the next day Wimbish sent a letter to the superintendent of elections in the county, claiming to be a message from the voter. In the letter, Wimbish was called a ‘hidden liberal fraudster’ who obstructed people in the queue during the election. The letter also contained threats, stating that Wimbish and others ‘should look over their shoulder’ and that ‘people will learn a hard lesson about stealing our elections!’

Prosecutors charged Wimbish with making bomb threats, spreading false information about an explosion, sending threatening letters, and providing false information to the FBI.
