The position of gender advisor was introduced in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was filled by Oksana Grigorieva, the former gender advisor of the Ground Forces Command. About this informs General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The purpose of the appointment of the adviser is to ensure coordination between different branches and types of troops and the Ministry of Defense, as well as to contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive gender strategy in the Ukrainian military.
The General Staff emphasized that the issue of gender equality is a component of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine and one of the key goals of sustainable development. In addition, the implementation of gender policy is included in the list of requirements for the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
Last year, the Ministry of Defense announced the implementation of NATO standards in the field of gender equality in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
