The Belgian government called on universities to prepare medical students to work in the realities of war

Belgian medical universities have received recommendations from the government with the proposal to pay more attention to the preparation of students to work in emergency situations of a civil and military nature. About this informs The Brussels Times.
The order calls for strengthening training programs for medics to prepare them for crisis situations, given the growing instability in the world. The document emphasizes the need to strengthen the health care system and expand cooperation between military and civilian medicine.
Special attention is recommended to be given to interaction between the Army Medical Service, the Ministry of Health and the National Crisis Center. It is expected that this will improve the preparation of future doctors for work in conditions of chemical, biological, radiation threats, explosions and other crisis situations.
It is also about training in the use of whole blood and its components in emergency conditions, studying aspects of medical ethics, providing first aid in case of acute stress reactions and familiarization with the medical organization within NATO. The Belgian government has already created a special working group to which the universities have assigned their experts to consider possible changes in the educational programs.
