The Bureau of Economic Security has stopped the activities of a criminal group that was counterfeiting pesticides and agrochemicals (video)
Detectives of the Main Division of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, with the participation of employees of the State Border Service, stopped the activities of an organized criminal group that established industrial production of falsified pesticides and agrochemicals. Underground production facilities were operating in the Cherkasy, Poltava and Zakarpattia regions without appropriate permits.
The participants of the scheme manufactured, stored and sold fake chemical products for the agricultural sector under the guise of products of well-known brands. These products contained poisonous substances, as well as illegally used trademarks, brand names and logos of international companies, which caused significant material losses to the rights holders.
Law enforcement officers conducted 24 searches in three regions – at the addresses of manufacturing and storage of falsified products, as well as at the residences of those involved in the case. During the investigation, more than 5,000 canisters of agrochemicals of various volumes, raw materials, production equipment, marking devices, instructions for mixing components, draft documentation, cash and other evidence of illegal activity were seized.
The preliminary estimated value of the seized materials exceeds 30 million hryvnias. The pre-trial investigation continues on the grounds of offenses provided for in part. 2 Art. 201, ch. 3 Art. 229 and ch. 4 Art. 321 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A number of examinations are scheduled. Additionally, information on the possible shipment of falsified products to the countries of the European Union is checked.
Operational monitoring of the case is carried out by the Department of Operational and Investigative Activities of the Administration of the State Border Service and the Department of Detectives for Strategic Economic Protection of the BEB.
